My story
"My name is David Singer and I study who lives in the soil, where they live, and why it matters from the microscopic scale of a single cell to the functioning of entire ecosystems, across natural and agricultural soils.
Based at HES-SO Changins in Switzerland and at the univeristy of Neuchâtel, my research combines traditional microscopy with cutting-edge DNA metabarcoding approaches to explore the diversity, ecology and biogeography of soil micro-eukaryotes, with a particular focus on testate amoebae.
I also teach ecology, statistics and bioinformatics, and I am actively involved in the international scientific community through my role as treasurer of ISTAR, the International Society for Testate Amoeba Research."
